Col. Lawrence Connell

Col. Lawrence Connell graduated from the University of Rhode Island with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications. He graduated as a Distinguished Military Graduate and received a Regular Army appointment in Army Aviation.
Col. Connell's assignments include: Section Leader and Operations Officer for the 236th Medical Detachment, Germany; Platoon Leader for the 236th Medical Company, Saudi Arabia, during Desert Shield and Desert Storm; Executive Officer for the 236th Medical Company, Germany; Company Commander, U.S. Army Aeromedical Research Laboratory, Fort Rucker, Ala.; Operations Officer, 62nd Medical Brigade; Commander, 54th Medical Company (Air Ambulance) Fort Lewis, Wash.; S-3, 62d Medical Brigade, Fort Lewis, Wash.; Chief Plans and Operations, I Corps Surgeon, Fort Lewis, Wash.; Chief, Operations Division, Pacific Regional Medical Command, Honolulu, Hawaii; Deputy Chief of Staff, Medical, U.S. Army Pacific, Executive Officer, 62nd Medical Brigade, Fort Lewis, Wash., Commander 43rd Area Support Medical Battalion (P), Fort Lewis, Wash., Command Inspector General, Army Medical Department Center and School and Fort Sam Houston, Texas.
Col. Connell received a masters degree from Troy State University in International Relations. His military education includes: the Aviation Officer Basic Course, Initial Entry Rotary Wing Course, AMEDD Officer Advanced Course, Fixed Wing Aviator Course, C-12 Qualification Course, Combined Arms Services Staff School, Joint Air Operations Staff Course, Resident Command and General Staff College, Fellow, Asia Pacific Center for Security Studies. He is a certified Black Belt in Lean Six Sigma, as well as a graduate of the Disney Institute for Health Care Excellence.
Col. Connell's awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal with four Oak Leaf Clusters, two Air Medals, the Army Commendation Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters, the Army Achievement Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters, the Humanitarian Service Medal, the National Defense Service Ribbon, the Army Service Ribbon, the Overseas Ribbon, Kuwait Liberation Medal, the Southwest Asia Medal, the Joint Meritorious Unit Award, The Order of Military Medical Merit, Expert Field Medical Badge, Senior Aviatorís Badge, Parachutist Badge, and the Air Assault Badge. He is rated in both UH-1 and UH-60 helicopters as well as U-21 and C-12 fixed wing aircraft.
Prior to becoming the Chief of Staff, Pacific Regional Medical Command, Honolulu, Hawaii, Col. Connell's most recent assignment was Commander, U.S. Army Health Clinic-Stuttgart, Germany which is the only military medical treatment facility in the Department of Defense that supports two combatant commands.
