Psychiatry

The Department of Psychiatry (DOP) consists of the following services:

a: Psychiatric Outpatient Service (POPS), located on wing 2B, offers walk-in and emergency service, individual and group psychotherapy, marital treatment, Command Referral program and medication management for adult beneficiaries, Phone # 808-433-2737.

b. Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Service (CAPS), located on wing 2B, provide assessment and treatment of children and adolescents with emotional and behavioral problems. A unique service is the Child Study Group, where children under age six are initially evaluated in three consecutive group sessions. Phone # 808-433-6418.

c. Tri-Service Addictions Recovery Facility (TRISARF), located on Ward 4D, provides intensive chemical addiction treatment for TRICARE eligible beneficiaries age 18 to 65. Treatment approach is multi-disciplinary and consists of group therapy, educational seminars, occupational therapy, spiritual counseling, and marital therapy. Upon entry, all participants undergo an initial assessment from which an individualized treatment plan is generated. Most of TRISARF participants are out-patients but several residential (in-patient) beds are available for individuals needing a more intensive level of care. Average length of time in program is sixteen working days. TRISARF operates 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday thru Friday. Phone # 808-433-6098.

d. Army Substance Abuse Program (ASAP) , located at Schofield Barracks building 673, 1st floor, provides intensive outpatient treatment for alcoholism and drug addiction. Treatment is designed to increase patients’ awareness of the impact of alcohol and drugs on their lives, to facilitate responsible decision making, and to develop a plan for continued growth upon completion of treatment. Aftercare in the form of periodic evaluation is provided to complete the recovery process for up to one year. Phone # 808-433-8700.

e. Consultation/Laison Service (C/L), located on wing 4B, acts as a liaison between DOP and other wards and clinics at Tripler and provides psychiatric consultation as required. Phone # 808-433-2759.

f. Psychiatric Inpatient Service (PIPS) and Psychiatric Nursing Service (PNS) provide inpatient services on Ward 4B2. They offer a full range of psychiatric inpatient services to include Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT). Phone # 808-433-6374/6988.

g. School Mental Health Team (SMHT), administration located on Wing 2B, provides in school mental health services to children and adolescents. The program includes classroom prevention, early identification, evaluation and necessary treatment/intervention.
