Family Medicine Residency Program
Aloha and welcome to the Tripler Army Medical Center Family Medicine
Residency webpage! We are excited that you are interested in our program
and we would love to have you join us for a rotation or a phone
interview if you are interested in Family Medicine.
Located on the beautiful island of Oahu, Hawaii, Tripler’s Family
Medicine Residency Program offers an outstanding training program, which
will prepare you to become the best family physician you can be. We have
a proud tradition of training outstanding Family Physicians since 1991.
We have some of the most well-trained faculty of any Family Medicine
Program in the nation. We are blessed with staff consisting of: two
faculty with Masters in Public Health degrees and research experience,
two Sports Medicine fellowship- trained physicians, one geriatrics
fellowship-trained staff physician, three Faculty Development
trained-physicians, and one adjunct faculty who is a Primary Care
Colonoscopy-trained physician.
Our residents and faculty share many exciting times together from
Wednesday morning flag football, dodgeball, or ultimate Frisbee, to
Soccer Thursdays. We offer quarterly simulation training (affectionately
called “Simulation Olympics”) for our residents, led by our outstanding
faculty. We also have get-togethers on a regular basis, which builds
team morale and camaraderie.
One of the things that sets our program apart from many others is our
humanitarian missions. Most of our residents get an opportunity to
travel to an Asian country to work in an austere environment and provide
medical care to a population that suffers from inadequate healthcare.
These humanitarian missions are supported by faculty physicians and are
an incredible opportunity that few residency programs can provide.
For the osteopathic students out there, we also have a fully functional
OMT clinic that receives referrals from all providers in our clinic. You
will have ample opportunity to hone your OMT skills with faculty
preceptor support.
If you are selected to join our residency program, I can guarantee you
that you will receive best training the Army has to offer and will
graduate as a family physician fully prepared to serve the Soldiers and
families in the U.S. Army and around the world.
We’d like to invite you to see what our residency program has to offer.

and the most up to date Power Point presentation that summarizes our
program.
Aloha,
