TRIPLER ARMY MEDICAL CENTER (TAMC)
HOW TO APPLY FOR A CLINICAL ROTATION OR PRACTICUM
Civilian Students other than Medical School Students

Note: Clinical rotations and practicums are limited to students enrolled in formal education and training programs at an accredited school or institution.  An affiliation agreement must be in place between TAMC and the student's school or institution before the student may train at TAMC.

If you are not enrolled in a formal training program at an accredited school or institution and are looking for a training opportunity at Tripler, e.g., as a nurse, medical clerk or technician, please contact the American Red Cross Office at (808) 433-6631 to see if you may do so as a volunteer.

2.  The department point of contact (POC) will communicate with the Clerkship Coordinator in the TAMC Medical Education Office to ensure that an affiliation agreement is in effect or is established between TAMC and the civilian student's school prior to start of student's training.

3.  In addition, department must provide the TAMC Clerkship Coordinator with the following information as soon as they approve a student for training:  name of student, social security number, e-mail address of student, category of student (whether civilian or active duty military) and dates of training.  This will ensure that the Clerkship Coordinator sends information to the students on mandatory requirements that must be met prior to students reporting to TAMC.  POC's will also ensure that their students bring required documents to TAMC during in-processing. 4.  All students, except dental and nursing, will in-process with the Medical Education Office Clerkship Coordinator located in the main hospital, 9th Floor, A-wing, Room 9A 008A, upon their arrival at TAMC.  Note:  Read the section entitled TAMC Student In-Processing Guide @ http://www.tamc.amedd.army.mil/residency/5-INFORMATION-INSTRUCTION-DOCUMENTS/TAMC-STUDENT-INPROCESSING-GUIDE.HTML.

5.  Dental and nursing students should obtain reporting instructions from the department POC.
