Mission Statement

The Special Medical Augmentation Response Teams (SMART) team is capable of deploying year-round, within 12-hours, in support of legitimate emergency incidents and specifically at the request of proper civil or Federal authorities. For incidences and emergencies occurring on military installations, the RMC commander may directly respond to the request of the MTF commander.

The team is composed of US Army officers, warrant officers, and enlisted soldiers, of the Department of Defense assigned to Tripler Army Medical Center and capable of deploying to augment local, response assets in domestic support, civil-military cooperative assistance, disaster relief and humanitarian assistance operations within our assigned region.

Objectives

When the SMART teams deploy, all clinical professional and support personnel come from the Tripler Army Medical Center. Typically, our deployments are not in support of traditional combat scenarios; rather, we deploy for humanitarian assistance, peacekeeping, and other stability and support operations.
