What is Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery?

Often referred to as "ENT" (for Ear, Nose, and Throat), this specialty's title encompasses the treatment of many aspects of the head and neck region to include:

The Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery Clinic

The Tripler Army Medical Center Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery Service provides comprehensive care for patients who have a variety of disorders of the ears, nose, throat, and neck.

As a part of the largest military medical center in the Pacific Rim, the Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery Service cares for a wide range of eligible beneficiaries, including active duty service members and their families, military retirees, eligible VA beneficiaries, and patients from medically underserved regions of the Pacific Islands.  We also serve as the primary referral center for smaller military medical facilities throughout the Pacific.

The Otolaryngology (ENT) clinic at Tripler Army Medical Center is one of the busiest in the hospital.  We routinely see over 12,000 patients per year and perform more than 2,500 surgical procedures.  Our safety record is excellent and statistically well above published national averages.  We offer comprehensive ENT care for patients of all ages, newborn to geriatric.

All of our staff physicians are board certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology- Head and Neck Surgery after completing a five-year residency.  The service is affiliated with both the University of Hawaii John A. Burns School of Medicine and the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences F. Edward Hebert School of Medicine.

For caregivers and medical students interested in our specialty, this site offers detailed information about our residency program, educational programs, upcoming conferences and important contact names and numbers.
